About the Black Cat Myth

In various parts of the world including Indonesia, the existence of black cats is sometimes associated with mystical things. Either because of the cat or because of the clear black color many people believe that the cat is associated with something with a mystical world that sometimes exists beyond the reach of common sense.

In certain societies the existence of black cats is associated with havoc but by some people its existence is associated with luck and as a disease repellent.

So it's not surprising that black cats are often associated with shamans and black magic that often makes our necks stand if we have heard the story and run into black cats at night because our minds automatically associate them with supernatural powers that will harm us.

In the course of human history, it was noted that the black cat was directly linked to the devil and the shaman. Even in some countries black cats are considered as incarnations of shamans in other forms.

So do not be surprised if historical records also show that this belief caused many black cats to be killed including their owners because they were considered to bring disaster to the surrounding community.

If you look closely we will find a cat with a deep black color and a cat with a black fur color but a kind of color line of color degradation of ash in between.

Scientifically if the cat with black degradation often bask in the sun then slowly the black color will turn brown.

For ordinary people who do not understand the phenomenon of change like this will certainly add to the mystical belief that this black cat is the incarnation of some other creature that will further eliminate his common sense,

Indeed, not everyone associates the existence of black cats as a sign of impending doom. In Japan, for example, black cats are actually associated with the world of love and life. Some Japanese women believe that raising a black cat will invite the arrival of many men who are attracted to it.

Not only related to love, black cats are often also associated with luck. So do not be surprised if for example in the UK black cats are often used as gifts in wedding ceremonies. Not only as a symbol of luck, the black cat is even believed to bring good luck to the bride and groom.

Not only brides, even sailors often have the belief that carrying a black cat on a ship will bring good luck and safety while traveling at sea.

In the world of black cat pirates are also noted to have its own place and meaning. It is said that for pirates if there is a black cat that approached it means symbolizing bad luck or a sign of disaster. Conversely, if there are black cats away from pirates interpreted as a sign of luck.

Not only that until the pirate world, if there is a black cat that was taken on his ship and jumped out of the ship it would mean the ship would sink.

In certain communities, if a cat comes and sits in front of the door, it is interpreted to bring good luck.

Apart from the various beliefs related to the mystical things above, in the scientific world the existence of black cats also attracts the attention of researchers.

American researchers at the National Institutes of Health link the presence of genes that have mutations that cause black color was also associated with increased immunity to certain diseases.

The mutation mechanism associated with the mutation that causes the black color in cats turns out to be almost the same mechanism as genes in humans related to immunity to HIV disease.

The similarity between human disease and cat disease certainly opens the door to research using cats as animal models in studying certain deadly human diseases such as HIV and Alzheimer's cancer.

What is clear to Cat Lover, black cats are easy to adapt to new environments, friendly, elegant and beautiful while having an aura of love that is very deep.
